Welcome to old Hollywood film noir Glamour, with this vamp-worthy 1930's gown...
This exquisitely lovely gown is a fine, rare gem. It has so many of the loved 30's details; dramatic bishop sleeves with Art Deco styled paneling, mixed metal lamé fabric, pure silk velvet, and an exquisite bias-cut! Dubbed 'Sister Dark', this moody gown would have been perfectly at-home on any of the Vamp-ish stars like Jean Harlow or Theda Bara. This gown features a wide neckline, with slight cowl in front and back. The shoulders have triangular panels of mixed metal weave lamé fabric, which is echoed in diamond panels within the bishop or balloon sleeves. Entirety of bodice and skirt is bias cut black silk velvet. The bodice features triple dart under breast detail and self-fabric belt loops at either waist side seam. Skirt is slightly a-line and ends in a back train -a finger loop is present at left back skirt side (to pick up your hem while walking). No original belt but I have sourced vintage black silk velvet ribbon, as well as an Art Deco/Art Nouveau styled gold color metal belt buckle, circa 1910-1930's to create a belt for this dress (belt will be finished to your exact waist size upon purchase). Overall condition is very good with many repairs throughout seams, two repairs to fabric at lower skirt, two 'ghost stains' (only visible at specific angles/lighting) -one at lower right skirt and the other at upper right skirt, a series of small moth holes at the train area of skirt, and some discoloration and breaking of threads in the lamé panels. Two sections of the lamé, at shoulders, have been covered with vintage gold fabric. Please see photographs for full details. No labels or maker's marks.

- up to 38 inch hips (due to bias cut)
