Lounge around in chic antique form, with these eccentric 1910's to 1920's pajamas!
These unique, Asian-inspired pajamas or pyjamas, were made specifically for their original owner -as was told to me. She apparently was an eccentric woman of means, who lived in a colorful mansion with a wardrobe to match. Unfortunately, when this set was purchased, it was the last of her remaining fashions left...
They are machine-made from a winter-weight (medium hand) black silk, lined with either polished cotton or more medium wt. silk. The red paisley ribbon detailing along the front closure, matching fabric 'buttons' and other details are completely hand made and/or hand-sewn. The cut of the top is extremely wide and billowy (reminiscent of a Pierrot outfit) with the oddly shaped, belled sleeves, but take note: the mandarin collar, when fastened, is quite a snug fit. The center front of the top closes with six hook and eye closures. The pants have inset hip pockets, as well as hook and eye closures and original drawstring waist closure.
I find this set to be extremely unique and whimsical! The overall condition is absolutely near mint (which is astonishing) with one repair to inner lining tear near hook + eye closure.
