Here's a classic little flared cotton skirt from famed Finnish label Marimekko...
Marimekko has been well-known since the patterns & textile movement of the mid-1960's through 70's. Vintage Marimekko pieces fetch a pretty penny, so it's no surprise that the brand has collaborated with other labels and stores, such as Target and Anthropologie.
This example comes from the Marimekko-Anthropologie collaboration. It is made of a super lightweight cotton fabric and features an acidic green & olive green, large scale print featuring brushstroke circles. It has a very simple construction, is unlined, with slatted hip pockets and carved wood button-up front. The wide waist band is top stitched and the 'waist line' is very relaxed and actually falls more on the upper hip, flaring out slightly, with the hem falling somewhere above the knee to mid-thigh. The overall condition is good with one very light, unnoticeable stain (five buttons down and three inches to the wearer's left, viewer's right). Label reads 'Marimekko for Anthropologie, made in Estonia, size 0, 100% cotton'.
- 28" 'waist' (upper hips)
- 40" hips
- 20.5" total length from waist to hem
