Stay warm and cozy, in style, with this vintage, traditional Norwegian cardigan...
Here it is: one of the most fabulous vintage sweaters I've ever had the pleasure of finding! This sweater is so beautifully made, hand-knit using lovely, soft -not scratchy!- 100% pure virgin wool. I am listing this sweater as circa 1940's-50's, because I was unable to find any information about the company that made it (Knut Erichsen of Norway). It is a traditional Norweigian 'Norkapp' style cardigan sweater. It features a cherry red base color, and intricate design pattern banding across upper bodice, and hem and cuffs, plus cross point pattern throughout. The stitches are small and tight, with the wool yarn having a medium hand or weight to it (super good for colder weather!). Down the center front are my favorite detail: handmade pewter metal buttons featuring 3-dimensional four petal flowers. Only label reads 'Hand Knitted in Norway exclusively for Knut Erichsen of Norway, 100% pure virgin wool'. Overall condition is near mint, with absolutely no flaws and little to no signs of wear. UPDATE: a special thanks to @vintageknitaffair for educating me a bit on this sweater! They confirmed that the design is circa 1950's, and that the designer of the pattern is Unn Søiland -a famous knitwear designer from Norway (AND the pattern is available online for non-commercial use!) So cool...
