Melt into your Film Noir fantasy, with this perfectly black wool crepe gown circa late 1930's to 40's...
This incredible gown or full length dress, is made from the softest, and swishiest of wool crepe fabrics! The fabric's crepe style weave is so smooth, that it becomes a little semi-opaque, in certain light. The silhouette is fairly basic, sheath style with double darts at bodice and skirt (actually, this is one of the earliest examples I've seen to utilize a more-modern style darting structure). The neckline is high, jewel style and the sleeves are quite short. The shoulders feature light shirring, and there is a Talon brand metal zipper closure at left side seam, as well as braided belt loops at waistline. The center back neck has another closure, key hole style, with four self-covered buttons (although one button is missing its fabric cover). Dress is unlined and without pockets or other details. No labels or maker's marks to note. The overall condition is excellent to near mint, with a slight iron mark at center front waistline, a couple broken stitches in the shoulder shirring, and that missing fabric form covered button mentioned earlier -please review photographs for full details.
