A true vintage 1930's silk gem with the dreamiest, most fantastic print I've seen...
This amazing little number is, unfortunately, so small in size that I could not find a dress form/mannequin small enough to properly photograph it on...however, anyone with a little imagination and fashion know-how will recognize the true beauty and rarity of a piece like this!
On a light-to-medium weight ivory silk crepe, this print features what I imagine to be an under water, dreamy print of red coral brushstrokes like feathery fans, with caviar and bubble-like clustered orbs and puce purple-grey strokes peppered throughout...what do you imagine this print to represent? I think there will be many different interpretations.
This special little number also has many great vintage design details; a 'fluffed' rolled self-fabric collar that turns to a point at the back, meeting a metal zipper, kimono short-style sleeves, chevron-peaked waist with pin-tuck gathering at both bodice and skirt...then, get this! one hidden hip pocket at left hip. The skirt of dress has been hemmed from original knee-length, but a 9" length of original fabric still remains tucked underneath! 12" length metal zipper and hook + eye center back closure.
Overall condition is strong and very good with mild underarm staining, mild discoloration throughout fabric and repair/stabilization (has been backed with a cream colored, slightly thicker fabric) to the right shoulder area (see last three pics).
Here is a breakdown of the photos:
