Epitomize a lovely, golden ray of sunshine in this 1920's rehabbed silk drop-waist dress...
This exquisite, not too fancy, antique 1920's dress has been waiting years to be worn again and now it's her turn! Originally a drab bone color, this dress had stains that could not be completely removed after treatment and washing, so, after removing the delicate lace collar, she was dyed this lovely, soft golden yellow hue. The collar needed reinforcement, so antique cotton bobbinet fabric was procured, dyed down to more-closely match the lace collar, and then the whole thing was reinforced, using a home-built frame system. After the collar was reinforced, it was reattached and reunited with the rehabbed dress. The dress still contains its original belt loops, as well as bra strap holders under the shoulder seams. It is a classic drop waist silhouette, with wide cut and geometric seaming, along with carefully pleated skirt. No labels or maker's marks present, most likely home-made or boutique-made (given the expert stitching). Overall condition is excellent, and very wearable with a few flaws throughout; slight stress to some of the seams around the hips, tiny pinhead sized holes scattered below the underarms, with one at Center Front and another at Center Back, one at back right, and lastly, the collar has some lightly visible holes (mended of course) and one light 1/2 inch stain at back neck.
